Rey Mysterio has captured the imagination of many wrestling fans, no matter their ages. He has jumpstarted the cruiserweight wrestling resurgence in the United States, beginning in the late 1990s. He has won numerous heavyweight and cruiserweight championships in World Wrestling Entertainment, winning the coveted Triple Crown Championship as well. Rey Mysterio comes by his wrestling talents naturally. (His uncle, Rey Mysterio Sr., was also a championship wrestler, and Rey Mysterio Sr. actually trained Rey Mysterio.) He was born in 1974 and made his professional debut in 1989.

Recently, he became the World Heavyweight Champion, in 2006, retaining his title despite several challenges that year. Even more recently, he became Intercontinental Champion, sealing his fate as the 21st recipient of the title, Triple Crown Champion. He is married and has three children.

Rey Mysterio Unmasked

One of the things that makes a ReyMysterio 619 so mysterious is his trademark mask. It’s important enough, in fact, that he was very disappointed when he was unmasked in 1999 by Super Brawl IX by opposing tag team Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.  This was the ultimate humiliation for the great champion, just as his own removal of the mask was the ultimate sign of respect when he was paying tribute to his friend Eddie Guerrero after his death in November of 2005.
